Japanese international expected to complete move to Italy after agent meets Milan.
AC Milan are close to clinching a deal for CSKA Moscow star Keisuke Honda, while Sampdoria midfielder Andrea Poli will join the club this week.
It is understood that Honda has agreed a four-year deal with the Rossoneri worth €2.5m per season, but it is unclear as to whether the player will join the club this summer or in January.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport. the 27-year-old’s brother and agent met with the club on Wednesday, and successfully negotiated personal terms. However, it would appear that an agreement between the two clubs is still missing, as Honda’s contract is set to expire in December.
As a result, Milan may choose to pay a minimal fee now and land the Japanese international this summer, or wait until January when he will be available on a free transfer.
The Italian giants are looking for reinforcements this summer, and are expected to clinch a deal for Sampdoria midfielder Andrea Poli on Thursday.
The 23-year-old is expected to replace Mathieu Flamini in Massimiliano Allegri’s squad, after the former Arsenal man failed to agree on a contract extension.
He had requested an additional year as well as increased wages after receiving Milan’s offer, but it would appear that the Rossoneri aren’t willing to bow to his demands.
As a result, Poli is expected to arrive at the club imminently, and with rumours suggesting that Robinho will be next out of the door, Honda may well join his new team-mates later this month too.
