Italian chief claims striker won’t be leaving.
AC Milan president Silvio Berlusconi believes Mario Balotelli’s move to Arsenal is now off after the striker suffered a disappointing World Cup campaign, according to the Metro.
The former Manchester City star was said to be one of Arsene Wenger’s top targets this summer and the manager had been linked with making a move for the Italian international once the transfer window opened this week.
But Wenger appears to have gone cold on the former Manchester City man since Italy’s exit from the World Cup and with other alternatives available.
Liverpool have also been linked with his signature as they prepare to step up their search for a replacement for Uruguayan hit man Luis Suarez as he nears a move to Barcelona.
But according to reports in Italy, Berlusconi now believes that he has scuppered any chance of a big summer move after failing to impress in Brazil.
“Other than Italy, I’m the one who lost at the World Cup,” Berlusconi is reported to have said.
“I was selling Balotelli to an English team for several millions, but, after this World Cup, who will buy him now?
“I was going to sell it to a top English club for 35million [euros], then the deal has stalled.”
