Talia has blamed his sick cat for breaking a speed limit by 36km/h.
Adelaide Crows star Daniel Talia has admitted to speeding but has blamed his vomiting cat for his driving error.
The 22-year-old was caught travelling at 96km/h in a 60km/h zone on Adelaide’s Southern Expressway in February, according the Adelaide’s The Advertiser.
Talia’s lawyer, David Edwardson, QC, said his client was distracted by the sick cat in the back seat and did not see a reduced speed sign.
Magistrate Bob Harrap fined Talia $824 for breaking the speed limit by 30km/h or more but less than 45km/h.
Talia also only received four demerit points instead of the usual seven for the offence due to his footballing commitments.
