The Australian has been given permission to speak to an unnamed club.
Adelaide United defender Iain Fyfe will consider quitting the A-League club to sign for an unnamed Iranian club.
The Reds have granted the 31-year-old permission to enter into negotiations over a lucrative playing deal, presumably with a side playing in the Iran Pro League, with General Manager of Football Operations, Michael Petrillo, confirming Fyfe would depart Australia on Friday night after being approached.
“Iain has received a very good offer and we have agreed to allow him to travel there to further those discussions,” he told Football Australia.
No further information has been divulged by Adelaide at this time with discussions set to remain confidential until a concrete agreement is in place between Fyfe and his prospective future employers.
The former Young Socceroo has racked up 163 appearances in Australia’s elite division after spending four years at Sydney FC and two spells at the Hindmarsh Stadium, a year-long stint at South Korean outfit Busan IPark sandwiched in between.
He put pen-to-paper on a two-year contract extension in February but is poised to leave before the new season gets underway following the arrival of new head coach Josep Gombau earlier in the summer.
