Viola set to begin season at home without Ljajic.
Fiorentina coach Vincenzo Montella has not included striker Adem Ljajic in his squad for their Serie A opener against Catania on Monday night.
According to respected Sky Sport Italia journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, the 21-year-old has been left out for the game at the Artemio Franchi, and therefore it has further fuelled reports he is set for an imminent departure.
The Serbian starlet has attracted interest from AC Milan this summer, although the Rossoneri have seen their initial €8m rejected and were met with an angry response from their league rivals.
It has been reported in recent days that Roma have now also joined the race for his signature, as they look to find a replacement from Erik Lamela who looks set for a switch to Tottenham.
Interest from abroad has seen the likes of Atletico Madrid and Spurs linked with a move for Ljajic, but speculation still suggests that Milan are favourites despite their tense relations with the Viola.
Montella had previously revealed that he is “fed up” with the Ljajic situation, and is hopeful of a speedy solution regarding his future.
With his current deal set to expire next summer, Ljajic has been offered a new deal by the club but after several meetings they have been unable to reach an agreement on a renewal.
It is understood from Di Marzio that a meeting had been scheduled for after tonight’s game, but it is unclear at this stage as to whether or not it will be brought forward or cancelled entirely.
