Ingwe are currently 6th and nine points behind leaders Gor Mahia.
AFC Leopards coach Luc Eymael concedes his side are out of the race for the Kenyan Premier League title this season.
The Belgian tactician saw his his side succumb to a disheartening 2-1 defeat at the hands of reigning KPL champions Tusker FC on Sunday that left them nine points behind current leaders Gor Mahia and sixth in the table.
Eymael was unhappy with the manner of his side’s weak performance, feeling it added to the disappointment of losing, and reluctantly acknowledged that they have blown their chance of making a late challenge for the championship with eight matches left to play.
“We are out of the race for the championship. We had a chance to cut the lead last weekend against Gor Mahia, and we blew it,” he told Goal.
“We also had a second chance to beat Tusker and move up but again we blew it. At this point I think the distance between us and the leaders is realistically big and we just have to think about the new season.”
The Leopards will be eager to provide a winning response in their next game against Chemelil Sugar on September 14.
