An approach was made by the MLS side in July and the 27-year-old travelled to the US on Wednesday.
AFC Leopards defender Jonas Nahiman is being given the chance to further his career in Major League Soccer after landing a trial with FC Dallas.
Injuries to Anthony Kimani and Jackson Saleh have seen Nahiman become the cornerstone of the Leopards’ back-line and he has become a leading figure in the Kenyan Premier League club’s resurgence over the last two years.
But the 27-year-old is now set to embark on a dream journey to the United States in order to chase a contract at Dallas, with Club acting Chief Executive Officer(CEO) Richard Ekhalie confirming his temporary departure.
“We wish Jonas well in his endeavors for greener pastures. As a club our policy is never to stand in the way of a player who follows then right procedure to develop his career” Ekhalie told Star Africa.
“He is still our player but we send him on with an open mind that he can be successful in the trials and if he is and the two clubs agree then we will see from there.”
Nahiman revealed that he was approached by Dallas in July but heeded the call of Coach Luc Eymael to remain at the Nyayo National Stadium for another month before taking up the offer from the MLS franchise, adding that it was a wrench to leave the club.
“It is both a good and a sad feeling as I prepare to leave Leopards at a time when the club needs me most. Good because I feel a move, especially to FC Dallas will be a ladder up my soccer career.
“I had been invited for the trials in early July but Coach Luc Eymael requested me to stay on till the end of August.”
