The NFL announced its three players of the week in the AFC for Week 11 of the 2014 NFL season.
New England Patriots RB Jonas Gray was named AFC Offensive Player of the Week, Houston Texans DE J.J. Watt was named AFC Defensive Player of the Week, and San Diego Chargers P Mike Scifres was named AFC Special Teams Player of the Week.
Gray rushed for 199 yards and 4 TDs on 38 carries to keep the Patriots well ahead of the Indianapolis Colts in a dominating 42-20 win. All of those numbers were career highs for Gray who was given only the second start of his career.
Watt gave the Houston Texans a jolt on both offense and defense, hauling in a TD catch from QB Ryan Mallett in a win over the Cleveland Browns and adding five tackles, a sack, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery. He made a great case for NFL MVP as well.
Scifres helped the Chargers keep the Oakland Raiders pinned deep in their own territory throughout the day, preventing them from scoring a TD. He punted nine times for an incredible 380 total yards (42.2 yards/punt). Five of those punts were inside the 20 yard line.
