Young midfielder ruled out with injury.
The Gold Coast Suns’ midfield has been hit by injury ahead of their round one clash with Richmond with gun midfielder Harley Bennell in doubt with a calf injury.
Bennell did not train this week and may be left out of the line-up when the team is submitted to the AFL this afternoon.
His anticipated absence will leave a hole in the Suns midfield but will have greater impact on the side’s scoring firepower.
The former No.2 draft pick is the most dangerous around goal of the side’s emerging midfield stars.
The Suns will be hoping that goal kicking presence is filled by teenaged whiz Jack Martin who is finally eligible to play and will make his debut.
Martin was elected by the Suns in the 2012 GWS mini-draft and spent last year playing for the club in the NEAFL while he waited to become eligible for AFL action this season.
He is one of three debutants with Queenslander Clay Cameron and South Australian Sean Lemmens, both defenders, also set to take on the Tigers.
