French international set to stay in Spanish capital next season.
Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema has not been contacted by Serie A giants Roma, according to his agent.
The 25-year-old has been of interest to numerous top European clubs during his spell in Spain, but after the departure of Gonzalo Higuain to join Napoli, he is expected to receive plenty of playing time under Carlo Ancelotti next season.
Having scored twice in a pre-season friendly against Los Angeles Galaxy four days ago, his agent has moved to dismiss reports that the Giallorossi have made a bid his client.
“No, I never spoke to anyone from Roma, nor have they contacted me to start negotiations,” Karim Djaziri told Radio Manà Manà as reported by Football Italia.
“It is pure fantasy. Roma are a great club, but how would it be possible for Karim to leave a club like Real Madrid?
“These are just transfer rumours. Karim is happy to play for the Blancos and will remain in Spain.”
Roma are rumoured to be in the market for a new striker ahead of the new season, as they continue their efforts to offload controversial star Pablo Osvaldo.
Although the Italian international has a prolific goal-scoring record, his troubles off the pitch have seen him fall foul of officials at the club who wish to sell him this summer.
However, none of the interested clubs have yet to make what Roma deem a satisfactory offer, and he looks set to continue pre-season training with the club until a suitable offer arrives.
Meanwhile, coach Rudi Garcia expects the signing of Arsenal forward Gervinho to be officially announced in the coming days, with the Ivory Coast international reuniting with his former boss after their successful spell together at Lille.
