Manchester United have been tipped to make an effort to sign Barcelona superstar Neymar, but it would require them to offer £137.8m.
That is what the Brazilian international’s release clause is worth, but Neymar’s agent insists that Barcelona are not willing to sell him.
“There’s nothing. This is speculation in the summer window. [The move] does not exist,” Wanger Ribeiro is quoted as saying by the Daily Star.
Since Barcelona seem to be unwilling to sell the 23-year-old, it will require United to break the bank and trigger the release clause to have a chance.
The Red Devils are keen on upgrading their attack and Louis van Gaal is looking to make a splash signing before the transfer window closes, so it is certainly a possibility that they will consider this option.
He has not given a direct answer to whether United will make a world-record bid for Neymar, who played a major role in Barcelona’s treble-winning season as he bagged 39 goals in 51 games.
