De Laurentiis keen to continue to bolster the squad ahead of new season.
The agent of Porto star Jackson Martinez has reportedly arrived in Italy ahead of talks with Napoli director of sport Riccardo Bigon.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Manuel Manzo, one of the representatives for the Colombian landed at Milan’s Malpensa airport at 16:00 local time, and is set to meet with Bigon in Milan in the coming days.
It is understood that the 26-year-old’s second representative, William Lara, is also expected in the city tomorrow where negotiations will continue in an attempt to seal the star’s move to Naples.
Gazzetta claim that an agreement has already been reached between the player and De Laurentiis, but the details of the transfer still remain undecided as talks continue.
Speculation over the last few days suggest that Porto are willing to allow Martinez to leave the club, but will not accept anything less than €40m for the forward.
However, the problem arises in De Laurentiis’ valuation of the player, as he is believed to be open to offering around €32m, thus leaving negotiations at a standstill.
Nevertheless, it would appear that Napoli are keen to add the Colombian international to their squad ahead of the new campaign, as Rafa Benitez looks to strengthen his attacking line-up following the departure of Edinson Cavani.
The Uruguayan scored 29 goals in Serie A last season, and despite the arrival of Gonzalo Higuain, Benitez is said to be hopeful of adding further reinforcements as the southern giants look to compete on all three fronts in his first season in charge.
