The Dutch champions have received a bid for the defender once again.
Former Norwich City and current Tottenham Hotspur target Toby Alderwiereld is the subject of a bid as confirmed by current club Ajax.
The Eredivisie champions’ director of football, ex-Arsenal and Barcelona winger Marc Overmars, has admitted that an offer has been received and they are confident of an agreement.
“We have received an offer,” Overmars was quoted in the Mirror.
“We won’t give any names as we are still in talks.
“But, just like with Norwich City earlier, I expect we can work out a deal with this club.”
The Canaries previously agreed a fee with Ajax, but Alderweireld was not keen on a move to Carrow Road and was thought to be holding out for a more successful Premier League club.
The 24-year-old has previously also rejected Bayer Leverkusen and Spurs could well be a likely candidate to snap up the centre-back, with Jan Vertonghen making the same switch 12 months ago.
Alderweireld may have seen the success Vertonghen has had since heading to White Hart Lane, with the Belgian making it into the Premier League Team of the Year.
Both defenders are Belgium internationals and footballers from the country are enjoying a period of greatness in England.
Players such as Marouane Fellaini, Eden Hazard, Christian Benteke, Vincent Kompany and Simon Mignolet are all stars for their clubs and play for the Belgian national team.
Tottenham have sold Steven Caulker to Cardiff City this summer and have also released William Gallas, so are looking to make some defensive recruitment.
