Former Man United legend Edwin Van Der Sar, who now works as a director at the Dutch side, was asked by Dutch newspaper HLN if Ajax would be interested in offering the Belgian a chance to play some first-team football and the 43-year-old admitted they were keen but would be unlikely to match his wages.
“Well, if you have the number of his agent: give it me with confidence. But I fear that we can’t pay his salary.”
Januzaj broke into the United side under David Moyes last season, but has so far not had much of a look in under Louis Van Gaal, and as such may look for a short term exit in the new year.
