The Gunners have to win and hope that Bayern Munich do them a favour against Olympiakos, and with the Bundesliga champions leading 3-0 at the break, it all appears as though Arsene Wenger’s men will set up a decisive clash with the Greek side on December 9.
Mesut Ozil broke the deadlock with a smart finish following a perfect assist from Sanchez, and the Chilean international got himself on the scoresheet as he tapped home to double the home side’s lead.
Arsenal slowly took control of proceedings and began to enjoy long periods of possession, while their pressing high up against their opponents enabled them to win back the ball in the final third before their fluid passing ensured that they found a way past Zagreb again.
As a result, they will be confident of perhaps adding to their tally or at least protecting their lead, while it will take something extraordinary for Olympiakos to turn things around and secure their place in the knockout stages.
Following on from their loss to West Bromwich Albion on Saturday, Arsenal will be aware of the importance of picking up a positive result this week, as they look to keep their Champions League hopes alive as well as building momentum to get back on track domestically.
Wenger takes his side to Norwich City this weekend, but the primary focus will be finishing the job off against Zagreb and ensuring that the race to make the knockout stages of the Champions League goes down to the wire.
