Mesut Ozil had given the hosts the lead earlier in the first half, but Sanchez struck just minutes later to double Arsenal’s lead and put them in a strong position in a game that they knew they had to win.
Coupled with Bayern Munich’s win over Olympiakos, the Gunners will now travel to Greece on December 9 knowing that they can still advance to the knockout stages of the tournament.
Following on from their disappointing loss to West Bromwich Albion at the weekend, boss Arsene Wenger will have been delighted with the response from the players as they aim to get back on track and start to build some momentum heading into the Christmas schedule.
