The Malayan Tigers striker scored a stunning 40th minute equaliser.
Mohd Amri Yahya believes Malaysia’s performance in the defeat to Barcelona will give them renewed confidence.
Despite losing 3-1 to the La Liga champions at the Shah Alam Stadium on Saturday night, the Malayan Tigers can take solace from a gutsy display against a team housing world class talent stretching in double figures.
It was a memorable evening for Amri, in particular, after the veteran striker scored a stunning equaliser for Datuk K. Rajagopal’s side and 32-year-old believes the squad profited from a newly adopted work ethic.
But the Selangor hit-man did warn his team-mates not to let their focus to drop ahead of the 2015 Asia Cup qualifiers with Bahrain.
“What happened on the pitch today will certainly give us confidence,” he explained to Sports247. “I hope us, players, will rise after this result. Yes, we played relatively good but we cannot lose focus in matches/
“That said, I have faith my teammates will deliver. Whoever is selected to start matches will give their all. For myself, I will continue to work hard, if not harder, and stay committed to the national team.
“Tonight, teamwork paid its dividends. We worked as a unit and played hard for each other,”
