Rating how the Gunners’ business has gone so far.
It has been a relatively busy summer of transfer business for Arsenal so far, with four new players arriving at the club already.
Manager Arsene Wenger is clearly keen to show that the Gunners are not simply happy with fourth place in the Premier League and want to be challenging for the title once more.
With the North Londoners topping the English top tier for more days than any other team in 2013/14, this is not something beyond their capabilities and here is an analysis of what the new signings will provide at the Emirates Stadium.
Alexis Sanchez – signed from Barcelona, £35m
Following the club record £42.4m signing of Mesut Ozil from Real Madrid in 2013 this is the second world-class arrival at the Emirates in less than 12 months.
Last season Sanchez was in fine form for the Catalans, but their £75m purchase of Luis Suarez from Liverpool this summer made him surplus to requirements at the Nou Camp.
With the ability to play anywhere in attack expect Sanchez to play a big part for Arsene Wenger’s men over the coming months and if they are to win the title the 25-year-old will be crucial.
