According to the Sun, Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho’s summer striker wishlist contains only three names: Mario Mandzukic, Diego Costa and Edinson Cavani, and he’ll move heaven and earth to bring in one of them come the end of the season…
Elsewhere, Goal reckon the Blues could target AS Monaco forward Radamel Falcao, while we think Mourinho shouldn’t forget his prodigal Belgian Romelu Lukaku, currently on loan at Everton…
Here’s the run down of the five superstars:
5) Mario Mandzukic – Bayern Munich
Mandzukic is a rangy Croatian forward, and in his peak years at 27. He currently plays for the brilliant Bayern side who are arguably the best side on the planet, and he’s scored 13 goals in 16 Bundesliga starts this season. He’s not an automatic starter under Pep Guardiola though, who occasionally deploys Thomas Muller or Mario Gotze as a ‘false 9’ at the top of the side.
As a result, the striker himself may appreciate the chance to the pivotal figure in a side of European pedigree. He’s excellent in the air, and his ability to score with headers is probably his main attribute. Mandzukic can also hold up the ball, and finish off either foot, too, and he’s seemingly suited perfectly for the Premier League.
