Positives – With Patrice Evra looking set to leave Old Trafford in the summer and Alexander Buttner still learning his craft, United need a left-back.
Cole’s proven talent and experience in the English top flight could well help ease the Red Devils out of what has been a difficult post-Sir Alex Ferguson period.
Negatives – Although Evra has been one of the better defenders at the club this term, the Frenchman has still been far from impressive and great improvement is needed.
Many would argue that it needs to come from emerging talent that can help build the foundations for years to come, not the quick, but brief, fix that Cole’s arrival would provide.
