Italian impressed by ex-LA Galaxy star’s fitness levels, even at 37.
Paris Saint-Germain head coach Carlo Ancelotti has said that he would be in favour of keeping veteran midfield player David Beckham at the Parc des Princes beyond the end of this season.
The former England captain only arrived in the French capital on a loan deal until the end of this campaign in the January transfer window, but his Italian manager has been so impressed with the 37-year-old’s fitness levels that he says he would be happy for the player to extend that deal into next season.
Beckham, who reportedly rejected offers from 11 other clubs before deciding to sign for the big-spending Ligue 1 outfit at the turn of the year, has not featured in that many contests for his new employers, although the midfield player is expected to start their Ligue 1 match against Montpellier on Friday night.
“I would be totally in favour of David Beckham extending his stay for next season but it’s a decision for the club and the player,” Ancelotti said in his pre-match press conference.
