The former Premier League boss is now managing in Russia with Zenit St Petersburg, but claims he held talks with Liverpool over the Anfield position after the club parted ways with Merseyside legend Kenny Dalglish.
Brendan Rodgers was eventually chosen for the position, with Villas-Boas instead making the move to North London with Tottenham.
The Portuguese manager has once again been linked with a move to Anfield, with current boss Rodgers under pressure after a poor start to the season.
He has no intention of returning to English football’s top flight however, committing his future to Zenit.
“I had talks with Liverpool,” he said.
“Returning to England definitely not in my plans, although life takes many turns.
“Coaching in England was a positive experience, but also many negative things happened”
