Strauss comments aired on live TV.
Former England captain Andrew Strauss has rather embarrassingly had to apologise after comments he made about his former team-mate Kevin Pietersen were broadcast live on air during MCC’s bicentenary match against the Rest of the World at Lord’s.
Strauss’s comments were not aired in Britain as they coincided with an ad break but his expletive was nonetheless picked up on FOX sports coverage where there was no advertising break.
Sky have apologised for the offence the comments may have caused though Strauss himself is yet to comment on the incident.
This is of course a little ironic given the past relationship between the pair when Strauss was the subject of derogatory text messages exchanged between Pietersen and members of the South African cricket team.
Pietersen was then suspended from the Test at Lord’s that was Strauss’s 100th test appearance and, as he resigned shortly afterwards, his last.
Kevin Pietersen has of course subsequently been banished from the England set-up entirely, a decision that angered many, not least a certain @piersmorgan who has wasted no time in sticking the knife in.
If KP called Strauss a ‘c**t’ on air, cricket media would destroy him. But they’re all ‘feeling sorry’ for ‘poor Straussy’. #Hypocrites
