This week is a big one for British tennis star Andy Murray.
Murray plays Australia’s Nick Kyrgios in round three of the French Open on Saturday – the same day his beloved Arsenal take on Aston Villa in the FA Cup final at Wembley.
For a long time there has been speculation about which team Murray supports. But he has confirmed he is a Gooner in a blog on his official website.
In the blog, which was originally written for L’Equipe, Murray wrote: “One of my sports heroes is Sir Alex Ferguson (and this is quite something coming from a Gunners fan!).
“He’s given me a fair bit of advice, especially regarding mental aspects and how to prepare for an important match. He was at Wimbledon last year.
“It’s always great to meet people who have experienced so much and are willing to share it with others. He’s spoken to me extensively about the consistency his teams were able to maintain for years and years. And he’s a good laugh.”
