Murray will now face either Novak Djokovic or Stanislas Wawrinka in the final of the first Grand Slam of the year and will be competing for his first Grand Slam title since his historic Wimbledon win in 2013.
Murray started out sloppily, going down a break at three-all in the first set after some poor play in the opening few games but the Scot managed to lift himself and put Berdych under some serious pressure at the end of the 1st to break back and force a tie break.
Murray was unable to win it despite having a set-point at 6-5 and slapped a forehand in the net to concede the opener.
But Murray seemed reinvigorated coming into the second and went on a run that wouldn’t see Berdych win another game until the third set, winning the second 6-0 with some incredible play.
The third was a more cagey affair as both players wrestled for the advantage but Murray forced the break in the sixth game of the match and surged on to take the set 6-3.
But despite her fiancee’s fightback it seemed Kim Sears had some choice words for Berdych as she was caught on camera muttering some rather adult language on the sidelines.
Berdych has never won a match which has seen him lose a set to love and that certainly wasn’t going to change here with Murray offering the Czech little opportunity with which to get back into the match in the fourth set and swatting away two break points in the seventh game.
Murray earned the break at 5-5 as the pressure clearly got to Berdych who sailed long and the British number one sealed it with an ace to reach his fourth final in Australia and eighth in Grand Slams.
He will face either Djokovic or Wawrinka for the title on Sunday.
