Angel Di Maria is expected to have a medical at Paris Saint-Germain in the next 24 hours ahead of his transfer from Manchester United.
The Argentine winger will meet with officials from the French champions in Doha this afternoon after a £44m fee was agreed, according to Press Association Sport.
That figure represents a £15.7m hit on the British-record sum that United parted with to land Di Maria from Real Madrid only 12 months ago.
But the 27-year-old endured an indifferent first season in the Premier League, scoring only three goals in 27 games, and is seemingly keen to leave for PSG.
Di Maria failed to turn up for the second leg of United’s pre-season tour of America, with manager Louis van Gaal admitting that he was confused by the former Benfica star’s absence.
Laurent Blanc’s side held a strong interest in Di Maria last summer and could have signed him if not for Financial Fair Play restrictions. Now it appears they finally have their man.
