The young playmaker has agreed, in principal, to join AC Milan at the end of this season on a free transfer.
Adem Ljajic will be leaving Fiorentina, but not until the end of this season.
Goal.com report that the player has announced he will sign for league rivals AC Milan when his contract expires next summer.
AC Milan recently began their pursuit of Ljajic when it became apparent that a deal for CSKA Moscow’s Keisuke Honda would not materialise.
Fiorentina have rejected all bids for their prize asset so far this season, so Ljajic has resigned himself to playing one last season for La Viola before leaving on a free transfer.
Fiorentina may well have mixed reactions over the news. On the one hand they are losing a crucial component of their team for free, but he will also be around to help the team this season in the absence of Stevan Jovetic who has joined Manchester City.
Perhaps one more season from the starlet is worth more to the club than the proposed £8m transfer fee?
Ljajic had been heavily linked with a variety of clubs this summer, including Liverpool and AS Roma.
AS Roma are searching for an attacking replacement for the outgoing Eric Lamela, on his way to Tottenham Hotspur, whilst Liverpool have suffered rejection at the hands of numerous playmakers already this summer as they attempt to facilitate an assault on the top four.
