Anthony Martial is expected to take the prestigious No. 9 jersey upon joining Manchester United.
The 19-year-old has reportedly undergone a medical and will be announced as a Red Devil later today.
The French striker is poised to become the most expensive teenager in the history of football as he nears a £36m move to Old Trafford from AS Monaco, who bought him for £3.6m only two years ago.
And, as if the price tag wasn’t enough pressure on his shoulders, it is understood that Martial will be given the extra burden of wearing the No. 9 shirt for the Premier League giants.
Sir Bobby Charlton, Andy Cole and Tommy Taylor are previous United greats who have worn the No. 9 shirt, which was vacated following Radamel Falcao’s departure at the end of last season.
Martial has scored 15 goals in 70 appearances for Monaco since joining from Lyon in 2013.
