The 26-year old Benfica midfielder and Man United target Nicolas Gaitan insists that he is happy at the Portuguese giants and does not see himself moving to Old Trafford in the near future, reports the Metro.
However, rather intriguingly the Argentine international has refused to rule the possibility of a high profile switch to the English giants altogether.
Stating that he did not really want to move to Benfica from Boca Juniors in 2010, the Argentine said that he is unsure of what decisions he might take in the future. Gaitan has been a long term target for the Red Devils, and moved to Benfica 4 seasons ago after his boyhood club Boca Juniors were satisfied with the 8.4 million euro transfer fee offered for him. He has made 177 appearances for the Portuguese giants since, netting 26 times, and is enjoying his football at Benfica.
Speaking about a potential move to Old Trafford, the Argentine said, “I have to be honest, at the time I did not want to leave Boca Juniors. I had played there all my life, but it was a good deal for me and the club. I had the opportunity to come play in Europe, to play the Champions League and Europa League, and now I’m very happy to be at Benfica. The same thought that I had when I was at Boca Juniors is what I now think of Benfica. I do not want to leave. I’m not heading for the exit at Benfica.”
