After a short training camp holdout, Andre Johnson returns to the Texans for preseason action against the Cardinals.
The Arizona Cardinals and Houston Texans prepare themselves for preseason action on Saturday night. While the Cardinals retained most of their starters from their 10-6 season, the Texans are in the middle of a rebuild off a 2-14 season that forced the team to trade their QB of the last 5+ years as well as the only coach that ever took them to the playoffs.
The Texans added QB Ryan Fitzpatrick, a journeyman with a 27-49-1 record as a starter since 2005. Fitzpatrick has been named the starter but has Case Keenum, who played well in a few games in 2013, trying to compete for the job under new head coach Bill O’Brien. Rookie QB Tom Savage is also trying to get some notice in Houston.
The Texans are also welcoming back Arian Foster from a season ending injury and Andre Johnson from a holdout in which he requested a trade. Both players will take the field against the Cardinals.
The Cardinals still have Pro Bowl WR Larry Fitzgerald but are slowly transitioning to a life with 3rd year receiver Michael Floyd as his replacement if he decided to retire in the near future. QB Carson Palmer is in his 10th year as an NFL starter and should have the position locked down unless he gets hurt.
