The Arkansas Razorbacks defeated the Texas Longhorns 31-7 to win the Texas Bowl, winning their first bowl game since 2011.
The Razorbacks defense came to play throughout the game, allowing only 59 yards to the Longhorns on the day. The game started slow with only a FG from Arkansas PK Adam McFain in the first quarter to start.
But in the second quarter the Arkansas offense came to life with a 36-yard TD pass from QB Brandon Allen to Demetrius Wilson. Later in the quarter the Razorbacks scored again on a fumble-recovery by defender Taiwan Johnson to give them a 17-0 lead. The Longhorns responded with a 9-yard TD run by QB Tyrone Swoopes to cut the Arkansas lead to 17-7, but with one minute remaining Brandon Allen extended the lead with a TD pass to Keon Hatcher to give them a 24-7 lead.
After a scoreless third quarter, the Razorbacks sealed the victory on a 1-yard TD run from RB Jonathan Williams, who had 105 yards on the day.
With the win the Razorbacks ended the year with their first winning season since 2011. As for Texas, the Longhorns ended the season with a 6-7 record, their first losing season since 2010.
