New Orleans Saints LB Junior Galette was taken into police custody on Monday morning on what has been reported as a domestic dispute by The Times-Picayune.
According to the report by Evan Woodberry, “…Galette has been booked with domestic abuse battery due to an incident that occurred with a female acquaintance at his Kenner residence according to Kenner Police Chief Michael Glaser.”
Galette is a team captain who has been with the Saints since 2010 and has had no prior issues during his tenure. However, he was reportedly kicked off the Temple Owls football team for “boneheaded mistakes,” which included an incident where his cousin was arrested for stealing a laptop while visiting Galette on campus. He is also currently involved in a custody dispute with the mother of his 1-year-old son, Jovais.
Galette later transferred to Division II Stillman and was an undrafted FA by the Saints in 2010.
Over the past two seasons Galette has totaled 22.0 sacks in 30 starts and has 3 forced fumbles. He was 6th in the league with 12.0 sacks in 2013 and led the NFL in safeties with two in 2014.
