Legendary tactician also hopes Ancelotti succeeds in Spain.
Former director of football Arrigo Sacchi has explained why Real Madrid are so eager to sign Tottenham’s Gareth Bale despite his significant price-tag.
The former AC Milan coach spent a year with the Spanish giants, and has also revealed that they have wanted to appoint Carlo Ancelotti as coach for a long time.
While the Italian is continuing preparations for his first season in charge, it is still unclear as to whether or not Bale will be joining him in the Spanish capital this summer.
With Tottenham seemingly against selling him despite the astronomical figures being quoted, there is still a belief that the player could push the move through as he has suggested he wants to move to La Liga.
“I think the Bale signing would be a commercial operation. Madrid have always wanted to sign a British player because of sponsorship,” Sacchi told Meridiano as reported by Football Italia.
Things have looked promising in pre-season for Madrid, as they look to wrestle back the league title back from bitter rivals Barcelona.
Ancelotti has brought a sense of serenity and happiness around the club following Jose Mourinho’s tenure, but will be fully aware that he must deliver immediately if he is to succeed.
Having won league titles in Italy, France and England in a glittering managerial career, Sacchi believes that the former Milan coach has what it takes to bring success to the Bernabeu in the future.
“Florentino Perez has wanted to sign Ancelotti for a long time. When I was at Madrid, he was on everyone’s mind.
“Madrid is a historic club – the most famous in the world. I just hope he does well because he is one of the best Coaches in the world.
“Carlo has a great character, is a good person and a good Coach,” he concluded.
