Star players struggle for the Gunners, as they fall to first European defeat of the season…
- 01 Szczesny – 6
Wasn’t at fault for either of the goals.
- 03 Sagna – 6
Kept Reus quiet for most of the game, but offered little going forward.
- 28 Gibbs – 5
Poor. Delivered weak balls into the box, and was out of position for Großkreutz to cross for Lewandowski’s winner.
- 04 Mertesacker – 7
Arsenal’s best defender this evening, as he has been all season.
- 06 Koscielny – 6
Arguably got turned too easily for the opener.
- 08 Arteta – 7
Did his job in the middle of the park, and helped tick the Gunners over as they came back into the game strongly after 30 minutes.
- 10 Wilshere (Cazorla – 58′ ) 4 & 7
Wilshere made less than 15 successful passes in the first half, and was dragged off not soon into the second – making way for the much more impressive and creative Cazorla, who hit the bar with a wonder strike.
- 16 Ramsey (Bendtner – 86′ ) 5 & n/a
Probably the Welshman’s worst game of the season. Outplayed by Sahin playing in a similar role for Dortmund, and gave the ball away for the first goal.
- 11 Özil – 5
Quiet. Often left stranded out on the right-hand side, and doesn’t have the pace needed to run at his fullback. Would have arguably performed better from a more central role.
- 07 Rosicky (Gnabry – 89′ ) 6 & n/a
The midfielder was Arsenal’s best runner from midfield, and although he gave the ball away too often, he was the most exciting player when the ball was at his feet.
- 12 Giroud – 7
Arsenal’s best player. Played well in the first-half, and grabbed a deserved equaliser. held the ball up well, too – but he wasn’t given the service his performance deserved.
