Arsenal overcame Fulham 2-0 with a patient Premier League display at Emirates Stadium, Santi Cazorla scoring both goals. Read player ratings here.
Wojciech Szczesny – 8/10
While the rest of the Arsenal team seemed half asleep in the first half, Wojciech Szczesny had to remain on his toes.
The Pole rushed off his line to make some brilliant interceptions, and produced a couple of acrobatic saves.
Bacary Sagna – 7/10
Bacary Sagna never lets Arsenal down, and his solid presence up and down the right flank and at the back makes him a reliable and consistent element to the Gunners defence.
Fans of the north London outfit are unsurprisingly immensely keen to tie him down to a new contract.
Nacho Monreal – 6/10
Nacho Monreal is a solid defender, but can occasionally be sold by a dummy or jink in the area.
Going forward, he offers excellent support to the attack though, and overall is just about the best backup left back in the Premier League.
Laurent Koscielny – 7/10
Laurent Koscielny has quick feet for a defender, in that without the ball the Frenchman has the speed of thought and foot to nip in and steal possession before the opposition attackers realise what has happened.
He and Per Mertesacker complement each other brilliantly, with the German winning aerial duels and organising the defence impeccably, and Koscielny mopping up with clean tackling and pace.
Per Mertesacker – 6/10
A strangely underwhelming display from a player with immensely high standards. Mertesacker never quite appeared himself after a collision between his own head and Mathieu Flamini’s forearm.
