Manager: B
Arsene Wenger has certainly bought himself more time at Arsenal after another FA Cup win, with the Gunners showing they can win silverware playing his stylish brand of attacking football. Still, questions must be asked about their poor start to the season and the defensive catastrophe in their 3-1 loss at home to AS Monaco in the Champions League. Third in the league is a minor improvement on fourth last year, but fans will be disappointed that the team did not come any closer to matching eventual champions Chelsea and making them work harder for their title.
Areas to improve
A new goalkeeper is a must for Arsenal this summer as Szczesny and Ospina between them just haven’t shown enough to be first choice. Apart from that, defensively the team does look a little more sound apart from the occasional hiccup, with a strong central midfielder perhaps more of a pressing issue to give the back four more protection; Francis Coquelin has impressed, but remains a little unproven and needs backup. Elsewhere, there is a case to be made for improving on Olivier Giroud and Danny Welbeck, though Theo Walcott certainly put his name forward for being first choice striker next season with his display in the FA Cup final.
