Arsenal eased into the final of the Premier League Asia Trophy on Wednesday by thrashing a Singapore Select XI 4-0.
Chuba Akpom, who has yet to score a goal for the Gunners in a competitive match, stole the show with an impressive hattrick.
The 19-year-old’s trio of strikes included a powerful drive, a cool penalty and a bullet header.
Jack Wilshere scored Arsenal’s other goal – also from the penalty spot – to book the Gunners a date with Everton on Saturday.
Akpom opened the scoring on 30 minutes, smashing home from inside the 18-yard box, after Wilshere had been dispossessed. Akpom has originally set up Wilshere with a clever dummy.

Wilshere made it 2-0 from 12 yards 15 minutes after half time, but the award of Arsenal’s first penalty – given for an alleged Sirina Camara foul on Matthieu Debuchy – was slightly soft.
Arsenal were given another penalty soon after. This time, the decision to award it was unquestionably correct, as substitute Jon Toral was poleaxed by goalkeeper Izwan Mahbud, who was lucky not to be sent off.
Mahbud had an excellent game, but he got nowhere near Akpom’s penalty.
Akpom put the icing on the cake with 11 minutes of the game remaining. He attacked a Hector Bellerin cross and sent a crashing header high into the net.
