The German international has constantly struggled to settle at the Emirates and nail down a place in the starting line-up under Arsene Wenger.
The 30-year-old spent time on loan in Italy last season, but having failed to secure a permanent move with Inter, he will have to assess his options again this summer.
Reports claim that Galatasaray are close to securing a deal, and the player’s agent revealed that work will now begin to find him a new club even though Wenger wanted him to stay.
“We had good talks with Wenger,” Touihri told German newspaper Bild, as reported by Sky Sports.
“He wanted to keep Lukas at Arsenal but could not guarantee him a starting position. That’s why we agreed to make a transfer.”
Podolski’s chances of playing regular minutes have always been limited given that the French tactician has so many options up front.
With Theo Walcott, Olivier Giroud and Alex-Oxlade Chamberlain to name but a few at his disposal, it has undoubtedly made life difficult for Podolski to break into the team and stay there.
