5. “The friendly and respectful people”
A personal anecdote: when I first moved to London, I lived with a great number of Spaniards.
They claim that people in Britain say sorry for things that no one else in Europe would say sorry for – so much so, that it’s almost a bizarrely endearing national characteristic.
Of course, those of us fortunate enough to be from Yorkshire know that the people of London are far ruder than those in God’s country.
They don’t even thank bus drivers down here.
Still, Podolski’s clearly been impressed.
