Arsenal are looking to add strength in depth to their attacking options…
Arsenal are closing in on a surprise move for Manchester United outcast Nani – according to this Caught Offside Exclusive.
The 27-year-old Portuguese winger is widely expected to leave Old Trafford this summer after two disappointing years in which he has made just 22 Premier League appearances and scored only one goal.
However, Arsene Wenger is apparently willing to take a chance on a player that was once a cornerstone of the United team, and for whom he has made in excess of 200 appearances.
The Gunners already have an exciting forward line that includes the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Santi Cazorla, Mesut Ozil, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Theo Walcott, but with the latter still recovering from an injury, it seems that the North London club could be prepared to turn to the former Sporting Lisbon wide-man.
In 2010-11 Nani finished the campaign as the Premier League’s leading assist maker, helping Man United to a title triumph, however he was subsequently left out of Sir Alex Ferguson’s starting eleven for the Champions League final against Barcelona in May 2011, an incident that has seemingly led to the player’s role at the the club stagnating ever since.
Arsenal’s apparent interest comes in the wake of a failed bid from AC Milan, who laughed off the initial £11m asking price.
