Arsenal set to seal signing of Italian star to push both their current incumbents for a place.
Arsenal are closing in on the signing of Palermo goalkeeper Emiliano Viviano on a season long loan, according to Goal.com.
The Italian is set to provide competition for Wojciech Szczesny and Lukasz Fabianski in the Gunners’ net, with both Polish goalkeepers having failed to totally convince at Emirates Stadium.
Szczesny proved against Tottenham Hotspur why Arsene Wenger has so much faith in him, with some great saves in a solid performance to keep a clean sheet in a crucial match against the team’s arch rivals.
However, there have been plenty of instances over the last few seasons where his concentration has lapsed and mistakes have been made, and the same could very much be said of his compatriot Lukasz Fabianski.
Viviano has already had a medical at Arsenal’s London Colney training ground after flying in to the English capital last night, and will push both Poles hard for a place in the Gunners side.
