London rivals both keen to land Belgium international this summer.
Arsenal are considering making a surprise move for exciting young Guingamp midfield player Gilbert Imbula at the end of the season, according to reports in the Daily Mail.
The north London club have been on the look-out for a new holding midfield player for some time now, with France international Abou Diaby likely to be out until Christmas with a cruciate ligament injury.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger sold previous defensive midfield player Alex Song to Spanish giants FC Barcelona at the beginning of this season for £15 million, confident that Diaby would be able to fill the Cameroon international’s shoes in the capital.
However, Wenger has now lost patience with the Frenchman and has instead decided to search for a replacement, with Imbula believed to be top of his wish list.
Imbula, 20, has a contract with Ligue 2 outfit Guingamp until 2015 and has scored two goals in 32 matches for his club to date this season, with Arsenal set to go head to head with London rivals Chelsea for the £8m-rated player this summer.
