As the Premier League season draws to a close it is now a fair time to look back at all the new transfers and determine which have and haven’t been successes.
So fanatix has decided to put together a bargain XI, with the criteria stating that to be a bargain the player has to have exceeded the expectations that came with how much was paid for them.
Loan signings are also excluded.
GK – Vito Mannone, Sunderland – £2m
With Simon Mignolet having been sold to Liverpool, then Black Cats manager Paolo Di Canio needed a goalkeeper to compete with Keiren Westwood.
So the Italian opted for Mannone – who at the time was third choice at Arsenal – and since then the 25-year-old has been so good he was voted the club’s Player of the Year.
