The 2014 World Cup winner has entered the final year of his current contract at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu and therefore Los Blancos are likely to be convinced to sell in the New Year rather than face losing him for free next summer.
It’s understood that Khedira would like to come and play in England, with the Gunners and the Blues believed to be leading the chase ahead of their Merseyside rivals.
However, whilst the actual fee for the Germany international is likely to be viewed as a bargain, his wages are a different matter with the 27-year-old currently earning around £200,000-a-week in Madrid.
The frugal North Londoners may be put off if Khedira were to demand this amount at the Emirates Stadium, as it would instantly make the midfield ace the highest paid player at the club.
This leaves Jose Mourinho’s men, with the manager having a good relationship with the German having originally bought him to the Bernabeu from Stuttgart back in 2010.
Khedira and Mourinho worked together for three years and this would suggest that Stamford Bridge is his most likely destination.
