Gus Poyet’s son linked with Man City as well.
Charlton Athletic midfielder and Sunderland boss Gus Poyet’s son, Diego Poyet, could be on his way to the Premier League soon to play for either Chelsea or Manchester City, reports the Daily Star.
The 19-year-old has come on leaps and bounds at the Valley since breaking into their first team as early as this January, and also won the player of the season award with the club.
The defensive midfielder though has not agreed a new deal with Charlton in a bid to ply his trade in the Premier League, leaving the Addicks and their fans disappointed.
He tweeted recently, “Thanks to @CAFCofficial for the great 8 years.A lot of memories with very close friends over the period of time. Wish the club all the best!”
While there are a number of clubs including Arsenal, who are also trying to sign the young talent, it seems as though Chelsea and Manchester City are best placed to sign Jr. Poyet.
Poyet’s apparent move to the Premier League seems to have been fast tracked as the midfielder played only 20 league games for the Addicks in the Championship.
