Both English clubs are keen on the experienced Fazio.
Premier League hotshots Arsenal and Liverpool are set to lock horns over the transfer of Sevilla’s 27-year old centre-back Federico Fazio, reports the Daily Star.
The Argentine international has impressed for the Europa League winners since joining them in 2008, and his performances last season also sparked an interest from Catalan giants Barcelona.
Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has recognised several holes need to be plugged in his defence after his team conceded more goals than any of the top four clubs last season, and has identified Fazio as probably the right man to partner Mamadou Sakho in the long term at Anfield.
Arsenal have defensive problems of their own as their out of favour skipper Thomas Vermaelen wants to leave in search of regular football, which has forced their manager Arsene Wenger to delve into the transfer market for the highly rated centre-back.
Fazio meanwhile, remains relaxed as he is happy to be in Sevilla, however, an offer in the region of £8 million could reportedly interest the Spanish club in coming to the negotiating table.
