Hamburg’s Hakan Calhanoglu on Gunners’ and Reds’ radar.
Arsenal and Liverpool are battling it out for Hamburg’s Turkish wonderkid Hakan Calhanoglu, according to The Sunday People.
The 19-year-old attacking midfielder has scored 4 goals and provided two assists in 11 Bundesliga starts this term and both Arsene Wenger and Brendan Rodgers have sent scouts to watch the player.
Calhanoglu is now a regular in the Hamburg side after spending last season on loan at Karlsruhe and earned his first cap for Turkey earlier this year.
The Gunners are big fans of players groomed in Germany and they have made enquiries about the youngster’s availability.
Liverpool, meanwhile, are also in the hunt and mid-table Hamburg could cash-in on the youngster as they are unlikely to secure a windfall from European football at the end of the season.
