Napoli could steal in to sign UEFA Champions League goal getter ahead of Gunners and Reds.
Galatasaray striker and reported Arsenal and Liverpool target Burak Yilmaz is now of interest to Serie A club Napoli.
The Daily Express claim that the Turkey international is the Italian club’s top transfer target for the summer, with Edinson Cavani likely to depart for Manchester City for an astronomical sum.
Yilmaz has attracted the attention of the European elite this season with a stunning goal tally both domestically and on the continent.
He has scored 20 goals in 24 starts in the Turkish Super Lig, and perhaps more impressively, eight in eight appearances in the UEFA Champions League, making him the joint third top scorer in the competition – the same amount as a certain Lionel Messi of FC Barcelona.
Yilmaz has played in Turkey throughout his career, and at the age of 27 may feel this is his biggest and best opportunity to test himself in one of the biggest leagues in Europe.
Liverpool could be on the market for additional firepower this summer, with Luis Suarez suspended much of the beginning of next season due to biting Branislav Ivanovic, and Daniel Sturridge yet to show over a full season that he can be relied upon as a consistent goal threat.
Arsenal too could use forward reinforcements, with none of Olivier Giroud, Lukas Podolski or Theo Walcott adequately replacing Robin Van Persie up front, though the three combined have a similar goal tally to the Dutchman.
A genuine goal getter could be the difference between a desperate battle for UEFA Champions League qualification and title challengers in north London, but if Yilmaz moves to Napoli, the Gunners may have to look elsewhere.
