Sporting Lisbon goalkeeper wanted at both Emirates Stadium and Anfield.
Arsenal and Liverpool will have to increase their bids to land Sporting Lisbon goalkeeper Rui Patricio, according to Portuguese newspaper Diario De Noticias.
The Premier League pair are willing to pay £4.2m for the 25-year-old, with Sporting holding out for at least double that figure.
But the Primera Liga outfit currently have massive debts and may be forced to sell the Portugal international for less than the asking-price, if the Gunners and Liverpool are not drawn into a bidding war.
Patricio has 23 international caps and also boasts Champions League experience.
The stopper 6’3″ stopper has spent his entire career with Sporting and was named as the club’s player of the year in 2012.
Both Liverpool and Arsenal are reportedly on the hunt for a new goalkeeper this summer, with Gunners boss Arsene Wenger said to be keen to replace Wojciech Szczesny as the club’s number one.
Liverpool keeper Pepe Reina, meanwhile, faces an uncertain future, with La Liga giants Barcelona said to be keen to re-sign the Spaniard.
