Santi Cazorla is pipped to the top of the successful dribbles table by enigmatic Uruguayan…
fanatix runs down the ten players who completed more successful dribbles in the 2012/13 Premier League than anybody else.
10) Jack Wilshere – Arsenal – 56 successful dribbles
Despite being injured for much of the season, England’s biggest hope still completed 56 dribbles during his 25 matches last term. His fantastic close control and technique helps him dribble so well, but his passing is just as impressive.
9) Moussa Dembele – Tottenham – 56 successful dribbles
Tottenham’s dynamic Belgian played a pivotal role last term following his £15m move from Fulham last summer. Like Wilshere, he missed part of the season with injury, so his stats are all the more impressive.
8) Stephane Sessegnon – 59 – successful dribbles
Along with his 59 dribbles, the Beninese attacker scored seven and assisted three goals for the Black Cats last term. Will still play a crucial part in Paulo Di Canio’s new look Sunderland side.
7) Gareth Bale 59 – successful dribbles
Bale’s unbelievable season has encouraged Real Madrid to try and make the Welshman the world’s most expensive ever footballer. If they get the £100m man – La Liga will enjoy a brilliant dribbler, with the speed of a sprinter, and a virtually ‘unsaveable’ left-foot shot.
6) Glenn Johnson 61 – successful dribbles
Liverpool’s attacking right-back played in all but two of the Reds Premier League games last term, and completed 61 dribbles up the right-flank. His forward runs helped him lay on four assists to his teammates, too.
5) Eden Hazard 62 – successful dribbles
Chelsea’s young Belgian superstar enjoyed an impressive first season at Stamford Bridge, forming an exciting partnership with Juan Mata playing in the space behind the striker. His speed and control make him one of the league’s best dribblers.
4) Mohamad Diame – 65 – successful dribbles
Diame’s surging runs through the middle of West Ham’s midfield played a crucial role in helping the Hammers to a comfortable mid-table finish. The club has done well to hold on to the 26-year-old Senegalese battler this summer.
3) Adel Taarabt – 83 – successful dribbles
Taarabt’s dribbling ability was not enough to keep QPR in the Premier League last season, nor were his four goals and five assists. The Frenchman is more than good enough to tear up the Championship however, as no club is yet to come in for him.
2) Santi Cazorla – 86 – successful dribbles
Arsenal’s record Spanish signing played more accurate through-balls than anyone else in the Premier League last term, and also completed 86 successful dribbles. The 28-year-old has already established himself as one of the best players in the country.
1) Luis Suarez – 95 – successful dribbles
The Brilliant Uruguayan’s fantastic close control helped him complete 95 successful dribbles last term, many of which no doubt included the nutmegging of a hapless centre-back. Scored 23 goals for the Reds too, who will be desperate to keep the enigmatic 26-year-old at the club.
